“God’s Love: Motherhood”
Happy Mother’s Day again!

I would like to introduce a dedicated poem for all our great mothers here and in remembrance of them. The title is “A Mother’s Love” and the poet is Helen Steiner Rice.

A Mother’s love is something that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may,
For nothing can destroy it or take that love away,
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking, It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems, It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation,
A many splendored miracle man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand.

In this poem, the poet says that we cannot explain how great the love of a mother is. This is because we cannot measure the devotion, sacrifice, and pain in a mother’s love. It is endless. Nothing can destroy it. It never fails. It is like something mysterious in creation. Even though we cannot understand it, a mother’s love is a wondrous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand. How marvelous an expression is this! Because of a mother’s love, we can see God’s guiding hand. I totally agree with the poetic verses in this poem, because a mother’s love gives us an important clue to understanding the love of God.

In May, Mother’s Day comes to us again. I hope all our church families appreciate our mothers, we are blessed to still have with us, and make the day special and meaningful, enjoying the moment together. And I hope that we all experience the love of God through our mothers in the world. Amen.
